Being healthy at work: Majority of the women are required to continue working until they are able to get maternity leave, the date of which differs according to the company’s leave policies. But they should avoid working for extended hours as it will only create health problems. It will be necessary to stay comfortable and avoid risks at the workplace and take less or no tensions.

Manage fatigue:  It is quite natural for pregnant women to feel more tired especially during the late and early stage of pregnancy. Experts suggest pregnant women to walk for few minutes sleep short power nap and take frequent breaks to have energy and combat fatigue. Some exercise combined with plenty of fluid and healthy diet can do away with stress. Also stressful situations are to be avoided.

Not getting exposed to hazardous substances: The work environment should be safe for both the baby and the mother. Metal products having lead or mercury or chemicals (like gas, pesticides or cleaning solutions), radiation, radioactive waste and other hazardous substances like cancer drugs, x-rays should be avoided.

Being safe: Appropriate protective equipment such as masks, gowns, and gloves should be used when in contact with harmful substances. Otherwise it may cause spontaneous abortion, serious health issues and birth defects.


Avoid Heat: If the work place experiences extreme heat, then it is likely to raise body temperature that can be dangerous for the child.

Combat infections: It is quite natural for pregnant women to be prone to getting affected by infections at the workplace, especially at any healthcare facility or lab. Adequate protection will be necessary. Some diseases like influenza, measles or chicken pox can be harmful during pregnancy.
